When I began designing this website for fans of Cold Feet I decided to take a look back at the former official websites ran by ITV. Sadly, such websites are no longer made for programmes like Cold Feet and the dedicated website privileges are held only for soap operas like Coronation Street or talent shows such as The X Factor. The first Cold Feet website appeared some time in 1999, and whilst I can't bring you content from the site 18 years ago I can hark back to 2001, which is where we begin on this trip down Cold Feet website memory lane. Please note that all content produced on this page is not my own and has been reproduced using the online internet archive!
So the earliest content I can get my hands on is from 2001, when the show boasted a pretty successful website. Around the time
of Cold Feet's third series, at the height of its popularity, the website included videos of cast photoshoots, you could play fun
games and read emails sent between the characters.
Helen, Hermoine and Fay are interviewed on location in Northern Ireland and asked about their auditions for the show. I'm
currently trying my hardest to source these videos, so bare with me!
PLAY ADAM'S SCRABBLE INVADERS GAME
So one of the games on the Cold Feet website was inspired by Adam and Rachel's love for Scrabble. This online
version is somewhat of a cross between Scrabble and Space Invaders, and if you have Adobe Shockwave
installed you can still play it. According to the website, keeping your clothes on is optional!
Click on the game to the right to be redirected to the Scrabble Invaders game.
One of the other games was called Dance with the Cold Feet stars. Sadly I'm unable to revive this game -
though its probably for the best as it does seem too exciting anyway, just a load of cartoon characters with
Cold Feet heads bouncing about all other the screen. Actually, that does seem pretty fun. Sorry!
READ JUICY EMAILS FROM THE CHARACTERS
So nowadays, the only thing fans probably want to read would be Adam's sleazy Tinder profile from series six. But back in 2000, snooping in on the emails of the Cold Feet characters was thrilling for fans! I have now managed to gain access to these emails for the fans of 2017 - please be patient when trying to view them as the web page is very old!
Click 'Snoop around their E-mail' below to read.
Cold Feet fans were poorly served by the show in 2002, when no series aired. Anyone visiting the Cold Feet website would see content from the previous fourth series in 2001, but in Spring 2002 a new holding page appeared promising new content for the website. At this point, everyone was unsure whether the show would ever return.
Alongside the photo of Rachel, Karen, David, Ramona, Pete, Jo and Adam, the rather boring website teased a commercial release of series 4 on DVD and wait for it...VHS! It also says to look out for the stars in other projects as nobody knew if, or when, we would ever get a Cold Feet fix again.
Luckily for us there was already something in the pipeline in the form of series five, which would prove the last in the show's original run.
Fans had certainly waited long enough and eventually, in early 2003, we were given a date for the fifth series of Cold Feet. Alongside a new photo of Adam, Rachel, David, Karen, Jo and Pete, we are given the launch date for the new series, plus the details of an exciting competition in conjunction with sponsors Mini.
There's a behind the scenes documentary, plus a new website. But for now, fans have to still look at a boring holding page.
However, sadly not much of this so called fab new website remains - as by April 2003 we reverted back to the old holding page, alongside the photo above (with 'The End of Series 4' above it), and details of further home media releases, some CDs of music featured on the show and a book. How abrupt!
...and well that's it I'm afraid. But now you can look back through old emails and play a Cold Feet game, courtesy of the original Cold Feet websites. Enjoy.
